It's Always Something

Do you remember the game, “Red Light, Green Light?” It started with everyone in the same spot and then the leader would say “green light” and everyone starts moving but when they say “red light” everyone must stop immediately. Maybe it’s just me but I used to hate “red light”…anybody with me?

The truth be told is that many of us struggle in different areas today because we feel like with everything going on in our lives, we cannot afford to stop. Has there ever been a time where you knew you were doing too much, had too much going on, and that you needed to slow down but felt like you couldn’t because of your work and responsibilities?

I once heard someone say that, “the number one source of stress in your life is not work, its worry.” Work doesn’t keep you up at night, worry does. Worry causes anxiety, frustration, and confusion.

Want to escape the feeling of being overwhelmed?, Start uncluttering your life. Plain and simple, there is a very high chance that you’re doing too much!

For many of us it is time to reprioritize our schedule, keeping God at the center and resisting the distractions (people, places, and things) that pull you away from experiencing His peace and spending time in His presence.

I said this last week but it remains true, you cannot do this thing called life without God. The biggest mistake you can make when you feel overwhelmed is focusing on your problems, and not giving God your full attention.

Something I have come to discover is that when your life is rushing in many directions at once, you are incapable of the kind of deep, unhurried prayer (your most important meeting) that is necessary for your spiritual walk. Say it with me: "I need to hear from God."

Here is the truth that all must grasp: The answers that we are looking for, the peace we so desperately desire, the provision that we have been seeking all comes from God. What often happens is that we are so anxious about what we perceive to be problems, that we miss His provision.

Literally your faith is pulling you in one direction but doubt is pulling you in another. Hope keeps pulling up but fear continues to drag you down. This is why you cannot miss your meeting with God.

1 Peter 5:7 tells us: cast all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

Matthew 6:25-33 in the Amplified Bible puts in this way:

25 “Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by worrying can add one [a]hour to [the length of] his life? 28 And why are you worried about clothes? See how the lilies and wildflowers of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin [wool to make clothing], 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory and splendor dressed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive and green today and tomorrow is [cut and] thrown [as fuel] into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ 32 For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

I repeat you cannot allow your emotions to lead you but instead you must own your emotions and be led solely by His voice.

My prayer is that you continue to trust God for the grace to move forward, taking the time to seek Him and His will and watch Him work in your life.
